                    FAQs

The lifespan of a well-maintained bra ranges from 6 to 12 months of regular wear, although this varies depending on frequency of use, fabric type, and care practices. You should replace a bra when the back band loses elasticity and no longer provides support even on the tightest hook, when the cups become misshapen or the padding flattens, when the underwires warp or poke through the fabric, or when the straps no longer adjust properly.

To extend its lifespan, hand wash or use a laundry bag with cold water, avoid the dryer, rotate between several bras, and store them with cups unfolded. It's recommended to have at least three or four bras in rotation to prevent premature wear.

A properly fitting bra meets several criteria. The back band should sit horizontally, parallel to the floor, without riding up; if it rides up, you need a smaller band size. The straps should support without digging into your shoulders or slipping down; most of the support comes from the band, not the straps. The cups should contain all breast tissue without wrinkles or spillage from the sides or top. The center gore (the part between the cups) should lie flat against your sternum. You should be able to fit no more than two fingers under the back band. If you feel excessive pressure, red marks, or the bra constantly shifts, reassess your size.

The ideal bra depends on your breast shape and size. For small breasts (cup A-B), push-up or padded bras add volume and lift. For medium breasts (cup B-C), bralettes, balconette, or t-shirt bras offer versatility and comfort. For large or heavy breasts (cup C-D-E), full-coverage bras, reinforced underwire styles, or reduction and support models provide greater hold and distribute weight correctly.

If your breasts are asymmetrical, styles with molded cups or removable padding allow you to adjust each side. Posture-correcting bras are ideal if you're looking to relieve tension in your back and shoulders.

Each type of garment requires a specific bra to achieve a flawless finish. With plunging or V-necklines, choose deep-plunge or push-up bras that enhance without peeking out. For strapless garments, off-shoulder dresses, or tops with bare shoulders, bustiers or strapless bras with secure grip are essential.

With fitted t-shirts or sheer fabrics, seamless or t-shirt bras prevent visible lines. For low-back or backless outfits, opt for low-back or convertible styles.

With sheer or lace blouses, decorative bralettes work perfectly as a visible complement. For sportswear, always use high-impact sports bras that provide proper support during movement.

To find your bra size, you need two measurements: your underbust measurement (determines the band size: 32, 34, 36, 38, 40) and your bust measurement at its fullest point (determines the cup: A, B, C, D, E). Measure without a bra, keeping the tape parallel to the floor and snug but not tight. The difference between both measurements indicates your cup size: 1 inch is cup A, 2 inches cup B, 3 inches cup C, and so on.

If you're between two sizes, try both. At Leonisa, you have access to an interactive size guide and an online quiz that helps you identify your exact size based on your measurements.
